In a vaguely Southern town in 1967, Geri and Bev are backyard buddies. They share a mutual fixation on Geri’s intriguing next door neighbor – the Lana Turner-ish Connie, who is frequently visited by the local doctor when her husband is at work. Curiosity drives Bev to force her teenage son, Benny, to spy. When the first gunshot is heard, the fixation turns to obsession.

Set in a dog kennel in Tampa, Florida, Rio Rita is a noir-inflected romantic comedy about a botched robbery, criminal fugitives, a double-cross – and a very inconvenient love affair. Even after escaping the law – and the lover, Rita finds she cannot escape a final confrontation with her past and a final choice about her future. (Rio Rita was a finalist for the Eugene O'Neill Playwrights Conference in 2009.)
